[Responses from people involved in the riot at the small-pox
inoculation hospital in Norfolk] . . . while we were
talking, Dr. A. C. came in, and said words to the same
purpose; on which I agreed to go, but before we quitted the
house I heard a drum beating, almost opposite my door; when
Mr. James Taylor, a magistrate (who just then came up) and
myself, ordered that the drum should be stopped; which was
immediately obeyed, there being only two or three boys with
it, and I think one man a little before it. . .
