Citation | VGW(RI.770.016 3 May 1770:11 (208) London, February 27. . . We are informed a scheme is on foot, and will be proposed in this session of Parliament, to tax all the public diversions throughout the Kingdom, such as operas, plays, masquerades, ridottos, assemblies, balls, concerts, public card routs, public gardens, &c. This is intended, in some measure, to check the extravagance of the age for those diversions. |
