London. . . Nov. 5 On Friday last Mr. Alderman Wilkes dined
at the Magpye in Chelsea, in consequence of an invitation
from the independent freeholders of Middlesex, in that
place. As soon as he alighted from his carriage, (about
half past three) he was saluted with eleven brass cannon,
planted on the bank of the river before the house for that
purpose; and the bells of the church were set a ringing. . .
[21 lines] Mr. Wilkes retired about 8 o'clock, and was
again complimented with the cannon and bells. . .
