gentleman. See the first page.
Sir, The perusal of a letter from a gentleman in the
country to his friend in London (in your Magazine for March)
diverted me, I must confess, but it also filled me with
indignation. What a selfish wretch to exult in his solo
state! Batchelors begin actually to have no grace in this
age. However, this solo gentleman, if he could meet with a
woman of a similar composition, with a heart as well as head
in unison with his own, might talk in a different key. . .
