I have cause to suspect that a certain James Digin, who says
he is a Bostonian, hath made his departure with a bay
horse... [5 lines describing horse.] Digin is about 5 feet
10 inches high, with remarkable black eyes and hair, has a
down-cast look, and a habit of leering, with yellow teeth,
and one more prominent than the rest; he is much addicted to
telling improbable things. His dress was a sky blue coat,
the buttons of which had lost their tops, and had wax
substituted, a pair of dirty leather breeches, a maccaroni
hat, and a shirt with short ruffles. The horse he borrowed
of me to go to Williamsburg, for books of salmody, and other
things, the 18th of October last, and to have returned home
in three days. The person who will restore my horse shall
receive fifty shillings, and also three pounds for
apprehending said Digin, so that he may be brought to
justice. [signed] Samuel Du Val.
