London. October 19. Mr. Robert Stovel of Wandsworth in the
County of Surrey (for his excellent hand on the violin) is
made one of his Majesty's Musicians in Ordinary. He had
lived many years in that place in great obscurity; but being
lately taken notice of for his surprizing performances on
that instrument, he was brought to Court, where he gave such
entire satisfaction
to the whole royal family, that his Majesty was graciously
pleased to order that he should be immediately put upon the
establishment of musicians; and was also graciously pleased
to make him a present of twenty guineas for the purchase of
a new violin.
