In a small folio volume, called Howel's Precedency, page 52
are these two remarkable paragraphs.
But now that we dance after the French fiddle so fast, as
we always did so for the back, and now begin to follow him
also in the things relating to the belly, by board- wages,
&c. I wish the time may not come that we do not go too far;
as that one almost put a grain of influence of pot unless he
buy it of the King hereby [ ] of his own commodity. [Re
excise and requirement of buying goods from one's own King.]
