On Saturday last, being Candlemas Day, there was a grand
entertainment at the Temple hall for the judges, serjeants
at law &c. his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales was there
. . . At night there was a comedy acted by the Company of
Comedians of his Majesty's Revels from the Theatre in the
Hay-market, call'd Love for Love, with great applause; and
the Societies of the Temple were please'd to present the sum
of 50 l. to the comedians. The antient ceremony of the
judges, &c. dancing round our coal fire, and singing an old
French song, was performed with great decency.
