Yesterday the Society of Ringers, called City Scholars, rung a compleat peal of 7040 clinques on the twelve bells at St. Michael's Cornhill, in 5 hours and 27 minutes; being the greatest performance of the kind ever known. it is remarkable, that three or four of the performers are under 20 years of age, and the whole company that rung this peal ( 4 persons) were very hearty and well after it. |
