May 8 at 7:30 pm10:00 pm EDT

$20
Folklore Society of Greater Washington

Enjoy an evening of hilarious and poignant songs about the music, history, and culture of the people who live on America’s waterways with international folk musician Janie Meneely. Though she makes her home in Whitby, England, Janie is renowned for classic songs such as “Twiddles” and “Nasty Nell” that focus on the Chesapeake Bay, where she grew up.

Janie will appear at a 7:30 p.m. house concert in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia (the exact location will be provided when you register for the concert).

Whether she sings about the past or the present, the Bay or beyond, Janie is delighted to share music, merriment and (sometimes) mayhem. Be ready to sing along!

To register and to get directions and more information, contact Gordon Johnston and Karen Helbrecht at: mjkandg@verizon.net or 703 725-0260. Light refreshments will be available at the concert. Please feel free to bring a snack to share.

This event is co-sponsored by The Folklore Society of Greater Washington, D.C.
