Knight & Spiers + Fly Yeti Fly

We see a lot of amazing collaborations between folk artists here at Live to Your Living Room, but this one is incredibly special. We’re thrilled to welcome Peter Knight and John Spiers in collaboration with the ever-fantastic Downend Folk and Roots.
Two-thirds of the talented Gigspanner Big Band, Peter and John are superbly skilled at taking traditional folk and classical music and making it their own.
Peter and John will be supported by Fly Yeti Fly, a duo specialising in warm, quirky folk with a late-60s twist.
An extraordinary collaboration between two musicians at the absolute top of their game. This is an adventure that takes in musical detours you’d be mad to ignore – Tradfolk
What to expect: The very best of folk, played in Peter and John’s unique and enchanting style. With decades of experience, this duo knows how to explore genres and turn traditional folk music into something extraordinary.
You’ll leave this show energised, inspired, and full of a newfound love of Britain’s rich folk heritage.
About the Artists
One of the UK’s most talented violinists, Peter Knight is best known for his work in Steeleye Span, playing with the band for over four decades.
As well as his work with Gigspanner and John Spiers, Peter has also collaborated with Maddy Prior, Danny Thompson, and fellow Steeleye Span alumni Bob Johnson.
Peter Knight can spin the world on his bow – Sir Terry Pratchett
An accomplished melodeon player, John Spiers is no stranger to the Live to Your Living Room stage, playing an iconic gig at Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford alongside long-term musical partner Jon Boden.
A founding member of Bellowhead and a member of Gigspanner alongside Peter Knight, John has also collaborated with Jackie Oates and Eliza Carthy.
Mixing infectious dance tunes with incredibly sensitive and moving slow airs, John’s solo shows are a mixture of traditional material and his own compositions interspersed with an easy-going, humorous and informative banter – Folk and Honey
