CDSS is pleased to present a variety excellent podcasts—Contra Pulse, hosted by Julie Vallimont, explores contra dance music—its history, present, and potential future, through in-depth conversations with contra musicians. From the Mic, hosted by Mary Wesley, dives into the caller’s role in these North American social dance forms—how they think about their work, and the way it fits in to our shared community, and (coming very soon) the Belfast Flying Shoes Radio Hour highlights the roots and branches of the contra dance music with live music and interviews!

Our podcasts embody the CDSS core value of stewarding our living traditions—documenting the history of these traditions, the ways they are manifesting today, and deepening the conversation about these topics. More than a more historical record, however, we hope these podcasts are interesting to a wide swath of the community and prove useful to musicians, callers, organizers, and others who are helping keep these traditions alive today. Enjoy!
