Live to Your Living Room

Ashley Hutchings – The Guv’nor – presents 100 Not Out, with very special guest (and son) Blair Dunlop. For one night only on Live to Your Living Room, Ashley and Blair talk about their careers in music, their father and son relationship in the folk world and, of course, share some of their favourite songs.

Ashley famously formed Fairport Convention in 1967 and the group went on to invent British folk-rock, with the album Liege & Lief voted the most important folk album of all time by BBC Radio 2 listeners in 2002. At the 2006 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Liege & Lief won the award for most influential folk album of all time.

Ashley then went on to form Steeleye Span, who had enormous success. After this, he formed the first of many Albion Bands. By 1977, the Albions were virtually the house band at the National Theatre, with Ashley as Music Director. The band provided music and acted in many plays, including the much-loved Lark Rise. In recent years, The Guv’nor has concentrated on songwriting, spoken word, groundbreaking shows, and releasing his 100th album.

Ashley’s son Blair Dunlop joins his father for this special show. He has been called “a globetrotting BBC Folk Award-winning singer-songwriter” and recently “he’s determinedly taken the traditions of folk in his own direction” (The Independent). As father and son, they have a unique and much praised podcast, The Guv’nor, which they record monthly.
