International Dance Workshop
Dive into Romanian Folk Dance Culture with master instructors Cristian Florescu and Sonia Dion at Tapestry Folkdance Center’s annual International Folk Dance weekend workshop. Featuring multiple teaching sessions, a Saturday night dance party with live music from Orkestar Bez Ime, food, and community, you don’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity to discover the world through dance and music!
- $90 | Early Registration (through October 31) or $70 for Youth Under 18 or Students
- $100 | Regular Registration (through November 12) or $80 for Youth Under 18 or Students
- À la carte options for single sessions are also available. Both à la carte and full weekend registration options will be available for walk-ins once the weekend starts.
Event Talent:
Cristian Florescu and Sonia Dion
Cristian and Sonia have been guest performers with the Collage International Dance Ensemble of Boston, have been regular teachers at L’École supérieure de danse du Québec and have been selected to be part of the Artists in the Schools program sponsored by the Québec Ministry of Education. In recent years, they have developed a specific interest in working with recreational folk dance groups in Canada and the United States, Mexico and Brazil. They have been teaching around the globe sharing their love of Romanian folk traditions.
Orkestar Bez Ime
Orkestar Bez Ime is a long-running band from the Twin Cities focusing on the many cultures and traditional music styles of the Balkan peninsula in Eastern Europe. Members of the band: Colleen Bertsch, Scott Keever, Matt Miller, Katrina Mundinger, Natalie Nowytski, and Eric Ray.
