Martin Carthy
June 12 at 8:00 pm–10:00 pm BST
£12 – £30
We don’t use the word ‘legend’ all too often at Live to Your Living Room, but for this gig, it’s extremely well-deserved!
We’re thrilled to welcome ‘the Godfather’ of English Folk – Martin Carthy for the launch of his latest album, Transform Me Then Into a Fish.
What to expect: Transform Me Then Into a Fish revisits Martin’s iconic 1965 debut album, featuring newly recorded arrangements of its classic tracks.
At this launch party, discover fresh interpretations of well-loved standards and see why Martin is such a defining force in the world of folk music.
About the artist
Martin Carthy, MBE came to prominence in the early 1960s as a key member of the folk revival movement – his arrangement of Scarborough Fair famously influencing Simon and Garfunkel’s own version.
Martin has collaborated with many other legendary musicians, including Ashley Hutchings, Dave Swarbrick, and John Kirkpatrick. Martin was also a member of folk-rock band Steeleye Span and family folk supergroup The Watersons.
Even in his eighties, Carthy still continues to perform, sharing his vast knowledge and passion for traditional music.
