Thanks to the Massachusetts Cultural Council for their generous support.
The Anthony Barrand Research & Stewardship Fund encourages research and dissemination of cultural or traditional dance and song. Inspired by the life of Anthony (Tony) Barrand and his numerous contributions to the thriving morris, ritual, and song traditions on the continent, this fund provides financial support to the next generation of song and dance researchers.
The fund was established by Olivia Barrand, Tony’s daughter, in memory of her father and in collaboration with CDSS. In the words of Ms. Barrand, “I’m thinking of my father as a young man, so passionate about research but struggling to find the funds to cover expenses (travel, equipment, labor), asking organizations for money and being told they had none to give.”
Proceeds from Rhett Kraus’s book Rapper Sword Dance in America support this fund.
